Hon. Colonial Secretary,

I do not think that the "ork, which I have

gladly undertaken, should be recognised by a cash payment, and in fact I would rather not receive any money. If instead the Govern- -ment would recognise the work in another way either by the usual recognition accorded to members of the local bar who have acted as Attorney-General, or by a present of Law Reports and books ( I believe a set of the Law Journal Reports and lews Digest of Case

Law can be purchased for about the sum mentioned by His Excellency) or by a mere expression of thanks, I shall be grateful.

(sd.) C. G. Alabaster.

16th. July, 1912.
